do you need a licence to buy the blanks for a captive bolt gun , thinking of getting one , 9mm i think
Funny enough I had knacker man out last week to captive bolt two ewes & asked him if you need ticket for them & he says not.

Hmm online site says licence needed.... Good mate of mine is firearms dealer, I've just text him to ask

There is no licence required to purchase, possess or use a captive bolt stunner and the necessary blank ammunition.

Note, these are captive bolt stunners. The do not kill. As such, the animal must be pithed or bled after an effective stun has been administered.

These work for all small and large ruminants. They offer different cartridge powers for different animal classes.

Be sure you use the correct cartridge for the animal. Don't try and stun an adult cow with a sheep cartridge.
this is one i know for sale :

I use a shot gun to euthanise stock, I have a book by the humane slaughter association. They recommended a shot gun as being the easiest to use for those of us who don't have to euthanise animals often.
Absolutely. A .410 is adequate. I have a hushpower, and so very little noise either. I heard a story of someone who shall remain nameless trying to put down a pot belly pig with his .22. it ricocheted off it's skull and chased him round the box as it bounced off the walls.
The pig was not impressed either.

Local herdsman went to shoot a cow with a shotgun and somehow shot his leg,he was millimeters from a main artery and was lucky to live.

They were selling s/h single barrel 12b at the game fair for £15 each .
Russian Purdeys.

Be ideal for humane dispatch of casualty’s or other vermin.

Saves scratching the Holland and Holland on the barbed wire 🤣
Many years ago I had an over under Hgulu that I paid £40. It had some top quality woodcock and cock pheasant engraving on each side. But was basically 2 pipes bolted to a lump of wood.

Did the trick of making things dead though.

As soon as I load up my blitz-kerner and set off to euthanize an animal, I feel like the guy from No Country for Old Men

I think I would feel a bit more comfortable with double barrel - just in case you miss with first shot and 🦬 is coming at 20mph! 💩
