Worth every penny,Buy the best you can afford.... I have a couple I fall back on when I don't want to do too much and they must be 15yrs old. I bought 10 on ebay not long ago for a fraction of new, if you're patient they turn up. Make sure you have decent gloves on and pull you sleeves down over them as those chips are like needles and very difficult to get hold of once they have got you. (sorry if you already know, but easy to use for 10 mins then wish you had the gloves after)

I’ve got the makita die grinder and cheapie carbides of Amazon. They’re just brutal at removing metal.

mill go with the goggles and gloves.... possibly a hat too to stop the splinters falling down into your eyes in the shower.

Just getting a cordless die grinder and looking at carbide burrs, are cheap ones ok or are the more costly ones from zoro or cromwell worth it?

Can be hit or miss on the cheap ones imo had some that are excellent and others that are useless. Expensive ones are stupidly expensive though and will still get chipped same as a cheaper one. They tend to chip when they kick back at you!

I’ve a set of 5 Garryson burrs that were about £65.

Great little things, never tried the cheap ones but if they work then can’t see why not.
Same here. These are blunt now but have done a lot of work. It's a horrible tool to use, but nothing else does the same job. As above PPE is essential; the tiny steel splinters get everywhere and stick in your skin.

The drum type abrasive wheels are good too for polishing up a bore for a pin or similar.

Thanks, the expensive sets make the die grinder look cheap! Maybe buy a cheap set and if I want a better one of a particular shape buy them singularly.
also looking at the abrasive cleaners that fit the roloc system, they look great.

highly recommend roloc! that's expensive too but really useful, i bought the 12v milwaukee die grinder and its great on 2" roloc discs and handy on smaller carbide burs too if you dont push it too hard.

I bought cheapo burrs, something like €15 for 5 pieces. If you don't like them get the expensive ones, which will be easily €15 a piece. Managed to burn one up very quickly on stainless steel, I suppose they are not ment for that.
