Carpet farming this Christmas - taking me back nearly 50 years

Couldn't understand what the warm fousty smell was in the house. Turns out son has taken his first cut and it was fermenting nicely. Had to take it out as it was starting to peel the wall paint. And I'm not keen on the fumes from warming lawn mowings.
Reckon his pit is fuller than mine will be this year.

Reminds me of my brother getting a large cardboard box, about two foot square. He put a roof on it, drew doors etc on it with a marker pen, and called it his grain store.
He then proceeded to fetch wheat from the yard and ended up with about five stone in it.
Certainly shocked mum when she tried to move what she thought was an empty box, inside the living room !!
