IIRC after buying my maxxum 150 I put the spec into the configurator and it came out at over 100k, about 103,104 I think. Bought mine at 4 months old but in excess of 40% less

Depends on the dealer, 20% less at worse, seen them up to 34% at best, I don't look at the price, just the toys!

I've seen high spec ex demo Maxxum/Puma 150s with less than a couple of hundred hours for around 60k... You'll actually pay less for a top spec CVX model than the list price for the base spec.

For reliability would the cvx be betr than range/powercommand and what is the price to do up a cvx vs range power command also can ye get a cvx with all manual spools or would this be uncommon as i dont ever want elec spools

You can certainly get a CVX with manual spools, as for cost of repairs I guess it depends what goes wrong with either box, a major re build on either won’t be cheap, any difference if indeed there is a difference will probably be outweighed by the fact that you have your preferred gearbox in your tractor. A bigger factor to my mind would be how do the different gearboxes compare for overall reliability, we’re probably getting into how longs a piece of string territory here.

Just had 33% off the retail price of a Puma 240 CVX in a quote last week. The dealers retail price was the same as the case configurator as well because we checked. That 33% was without negotiation either, just literally the first discount given. Thats a full spec tractor with front links/pto RTK auto steer, 5 spools etc.

Why would you never want electric spools?
Easy to use, easy to set flow, timers etc

I dont need them for tippin trailers spreadin slurry and things like that. There dearer to buy and at least if cable breaks on a manual spool ye know whats wrong instead o havin to check electric connections and all
So you dont need them, that's fair enough but I'd much rather have them than get out to adjust the cable length when the backend gets too hot!

I know they are nicer to use but like everythin else its ok when its all new and all workin
Leccy spools have been around for decades. Think of the number of forklifts with tens of thousands of hours on them that have never given bother.

You don't "need" them for tipping a trailer, but you don't "need" anything more than a dry clutch and crash synchroless gearbox either.

Only thing electric spools don't like is dirt. Cable controls are better if you're not in the habit of keeping things clean.

Same goes for a Vario gearbox that shares the hydraulic oil.

But then, who pays the price of a small house for a piece of machinery, then doesn't look after it??? ?

Got to say I’ve never found well positioned manual spools particularly challenging to use, they’re cheaper to buy , less troublesome and certainly cheaper to fix if they do go wrong.

I did have a Sankey can 290 on the loader once with the spools on the left behind the seat, that wasn’t particularly handy at all.

I have plenty o tractors way dry clutches and manual gears and tbh if they stil made decent sized tractors like that thats the one id go for no probs and if ye go to her sum mornin and it wont start ye just throw a chain on and tow her until ye get a minute to get it fixed
