hello, i have a mxm 140 here and over the last few weeks the break pedal has been getting a bit softer however on saturday i had next to no breaks (no brake fluid in the tank, so i have topped up the fluid and used the tractor for about 2 hours and when i was home the breaks were very soft and i think the fluid is nearly out of her again. I cant see any fluid leaking from the tank back to the master cyclinder or around the cyclinder, where would be the best place to check first or has anybody else had this problem before.

Also what is the correct brake fluid to use on these tractors, i have been told lhm however im not 100% sure.

All help appreciated.

Brake booster leaking internally maybe?
is this in the back end on each of the legs. The tractor got new breaks by new holland mechanic, and when he done the breaks he said something about replacing seals or something in the back half axles so id like to think that these seals wouldnt be gone already?

Somebody will put me straight if I’m wrong. The brake booster uses brake fluid to activate a valve which uses the tractors own hydraulic oil to activate the piston seals in the trumpet.

I was wondering if the booster, which separates the two oil circuits, might be leaking inside and letting the brake fluid get into the tractor hydraulic oil.
