Anyone know what this canister type thing is. It's on one of the power steering hoses and it's situated under the right steeps next to the other filters. It's started weeping from the factory weld. No problem to weld it back up but I'd like to know what's inside first.

Usually a steering resonator, as mentioned on Same's etc. Also found on NHs under the floor. Remove it, grind out the crack and ARC weld it, mig will not hold for some reason in my experience. Must be to do with the oil in the steel, better still if you can sweat it clean with oxy torch first. Start welding before where you start the grinding and carry on after it for about 10mm.

Have welded it on our New Holland TM
As above, weld it with an arc welder and weld right round it while you are on, as i only welded the crack originally on ours and it just cracked again .
Welded it right round and been ok since
