CAT 336 Telehandler

Has anyone had any luck sourcing a priority valve for a 336. Ours is playing up again, and through cat prices are eye watering. Any help appreciated, thank you.

If you know the CAT part number for it? i can easy try my supplier.

These type of things normally fail due to contamination of the oil, either from a pump thats failing or just years of use and lack of hyd oil changes/tank clean outs.

I would advise changing all the hydraulic oil and filters and if possible open the tank up and wipe the inside of it clean.

Thanks Ace, part no: 347-8827 hopefully I won’t need the housing as well, which I did when it failed at 1500hrs 😭 Done 4,800hrs now.

Supplier is calling that a regulator kit so i guessing thats is just item 5 the spool assembly. They dont have stock or a price set up for it so cant really help. I'm amazed they sell it as a separate part IMO as the housing will be more likely damaged as that will be softer metal that the spool normally and both will wear.

Have you removed the spool marked in yellow and tried cleaning it? if you get some very fine wet and dry paper and a bit of light oil to polish it by hand that maybe enough of a fix.

It looks vaguely like a rexroth block manitou use? item 2 is often called a regulating valve so i wouldn't be too sure you have the right part number IMO??

I dont have a parts list, this drawing is just what popped up on google, supplier didn't even have a picture of the part.

yes it is Rexroth, and fitter has been out and tried second hand part but that wouldn’t work at all (machine will work 90% of time when warm). New complete housing is £2,700 so was hoping to try the valve first.

We're running a 330b, and are now using an outfit called C J Cox in Dorset if it's summat beyond our local man.
They've an excellent CAT trained fitter called Pat.
They/he are/is helpful, knowledgeable, and best of all....it doesn't involve effing Finnings, or mortgaging the kids.

Former clients of mine have always spoke highly of CJ Cox when it came to their Cat machines.

Might sound radical but compair the price to a complete spool block assembly!

Manitou slices can be extremely expensive too, so can sometimes make more sense to buy a complete valve block!
