Cat digger hard start

I recently bought a 302 cat mini digger 2002 it’s hard to start when cold even after a lot of heating. Is this a common problem or is there a way to sort it. I’m going to put a geared starter in it when I get time. It will fire first tip of key once it gets warmed up. TIA

Try heating then crank over ,then heat again

Heater plug or air in the fuel line worth jumping off a donor to test. Put the jump leads directly on the starter if you can.

Battery could be lazy especially now its colder ,,once its been running it will be back to full charge and once warmed up it will start better.
Something as simple as the engine oil needing changing could improve it

3 cylinder Yanmar or Jap Perkins 103.10 engine? Have you pulled the plugs out to check they are actually working?

3 cylinder Yanmar or Jap Perkins 103.10 engine? Have you pulled the plugs out to check they are actually working?

I’m actually not sure it has cat stickers all over engine I’d say the perkins be cheaper work on anyway!!

As others have said it could be a number of things.
My kioti has become hard to start. I think myself it's the relay for the glow plugs.

Our kubota lawn mower is also hard to start and given its age it could be glow plugs.
