Looking at renewing grass by taking cut of hay/silage, ploughing once bales are off and seeding with feed rape or similar undersown with grass to get winter feed crop with grass getting a good start for the coming year. Anyone have any experience of doing this? Thanks Mike...

My concern with rape or kale would be the shading of the undersown grass. The establishing brassica wouldn't like the competition for water & nutrients but plenty of N and rain would help. There are plenty who undersow maize with grass.

I recommend you ask this in the Livestock & Forage section too, if you haven't already.
