Has anyone found a usable means of recording the data off cattle passports long barcode onto a database to meet the needs of the official Cattle Herd Register? This would be using a barcode reader I have here already.
Pretty sure a database should be feasible, but beyond my abilities, similiar with spreadsets I am afraid. It is 25+ years since I had much to do with them.... I tried the .Gov.Uk offering but it is essentially just the hard copy version put in as a spreadsheet, and all you can do is read the tag number off the passport into the Cell, and it will only store 15-20 records, and wont print properly either, So useless....
I originally used Agridata, then when I came back to cattle keeping, I started using Farm Matters, but to be honest, the features it now offers are way over the top for my needs for a few head of cattle and it is not really cost effective.
Any suggestions please?
