Yes I think I will be. I think I'll end up using one for round the house, so I might aswell get one bought, I've got a couple of jobs I could put it on this year as well. Do you reckon mixed ballast will be ok? Or better to buy 20mm and sand separate
mixed sand and gravel is fine to use we have a fleigal from killworth machinery its been very good don't use it often but dead handy when you need bits and bobs for gate posts ect i would not use one for a shed floor though ,we load it with 3 ton digger and ditch bucket and put 8 bags cement in for a good mix

I want to do some shuttered walls so as you say it will be handy, if I've only got one set of shutters then I'll need 2.5 cube per bay. It would too much as volumetric or minimix.

I'll hopefully have a lot of building work going on in the next few years, so I think I'll use it.

If been paying £87 for c35, so very roughly 2 tonnes of ballast at £50 400kgs of cement £18 equals £68 excluding water and labour and I expect readymix will stronger. I don't know about the ballast price, I'm sure it will be cheaper,
the mix from a pan mixer will be more consistent than a volumetric in my experience of them. the pan mixer are best sloping back a bit as if level they can take the water to the middle a bit thats what we have found

i find them inconsistent, one firm is fairly good, but they're dear, and they seem to charge different depending on what day it is. Another we had that a customer ordered was awful stuff, it was just watery stone at the start and the end (n)

I seem to do a lot of kerbs aswell, so it would be good for that.
