Cereals 2018...

Phil always was good at stringing a sentence together, a clever chap. For my ha'penny worth. I paid my entry less my 15% discount as a BASIS member, never did get one of those free tickets. A clear run down via the A1(M) /A1198 on Thursday and braved the chilly wind. Even as someone who only grows a tiny area of cereals, I felt it was a worthwhile day out but then it's a few years since I've been. Didn't actually have time to listen to any of the debates. I talked to a couple of fertiliser bods that I had queries with, a mutter to Natural England (helpful) and RPA (not). Good cup of coffee with Yara, despite that fact that we've already secured our Pulan . Enjoyed a few minutes in the soil pit and learning about root architecture with NIAB. Took a few tentative steps towards precision farming (remember I'm a straw chewing dairy girl really). Looked at some wheat plots, mulling over this year's drilling choice. A few BASIS points banked, but best of all, a bit of time with a couple of my brothers over a welcome cuppa from AF and also caught up with many old friends, mainly ex-ADAS. Left the site as it was being deconstructed. 3 much-needed baseball caps, several pens, a Pulan bag and assorted leaflets, and a Chinese takeaway picked up on the way home to feed Prince Pooper after milking. :) A nice day out.

My son bought me a purple one for Christmas. I quite like it and wear it down the pub on a Friday. No other farmers present, so no one comments and I'm the only one.
I also wear it in the more upmarket pub we go for our meal after shooting, where there's a few on show. Red seems a popular colour. I'm living the dream.:D
