Chainsaw fuel

That would be a non starter, here £15 .............

To be honest we were using that much 2-stroke oil we started using SUTO (universal tractor) and had no problems. Wouldn't recommend SUTO for just occasional use, stick with the 2-stroke oil and exact measures.

2-stroke are little fecker's anyway, they just love attention ........

Been using stihl red 2 stroke oil for a few years. Stuff gets put away for six months half full and usually start first go when they come out.
. Using the Stihl two stroke here too, but the local Stihl agent advised me to run the tank dry before putting stuff away. This was a good few years ago when they removed something from petrol, and he claimed it was the reason the pipe in the fuel tank of my saw perished..... (n)

Been having fuel problems with chainsaws and strimmers and advised to use Aspen 2.
All running well now but at £15 plus vat for 5 litres it is expensive.
What are the professionals using?
new fuel don't leave it mixed for months
if the farm tank is topped up all the time can be older fuel in the system better to buy 10 or 20 lts from a bigger outlet with higher turn over of fuel
2 stroke oils brand names tend to work better

I have had more problems with petrol going stale than anything. I now make a point of using a 5 litre petrol can with a screw top and keep it fresh. Thrown away the jerry cans! No problems since.Mix as and when It is needed. Aspen is ok but I have to open up the tick over on my cheap saw to keep it running. Husky seems to run on it ok with out adjustment.

@Henarar was just advising me on tool lubrication recently

Best advice and practice with small engines esp 2 stroke ones is to run them out at the end of use / tip out any fuel in the tank even at the end of the day.
Our practice when I was in the forestry sector was always store the saw full of oil, empty of fuel.
And I only mix a small batch of fuel at a time, anything left in the can goes in the car or bike.
This more modern fuel keeps poorly, mixed, compared to the good old leaded stuff IME.
I use either stihl or husky stuff, much of a muchness.
