My parents live about an hour away in Crewe. Mum's prescription medications ran out this week and she walked to the chemist 3 days running to pick up prescription ' that wasn't ready yet'. :banghead:
No matter how much I tried I couldn't get any response from the pharmacy to let us know of progress so I could sort out collection for mum. Doctors surgery nor 111 couldn't help either.
Rang Age UK charity, county office.
Problem solved ?. Mums medicine was picked up and taken round within 2 hours.
They must have a really well organised army of helpers out there. A big THANKS from me!!
If any of you out there are stuck for help for your older relatives I'm sure Age UK could step in.

What other volunteers have folks out there been able to call on to step in and help your family out?

Our local community set up a rota of helpers but I am still worried they may be doing more harm then good. Huge respect to the local pubs who have all started doing take aways but set up a rota whereby over 80's can get a free meal every night from a different pub delivered to there door,

My parents (250 miles away) are regular church attenders so my sister emailed the church admin office and they have now got a helper in place who gets their shopping etc, for which we are both extremely grateful. He is a literal life-saver and we are very aware of the huge debt of gratitude due to him.

I am signed up for our village volunteer list but haven't been called into service yet so will sign up to the NHS volunteer scheme too.

I tried to book a blood donation slot online but despite being a previous donor I'm now in a queue to create an online account because "Currently we are experiencing an unprecedented level of people wanting to give blood. We are processing these as fast as we can but it will take significantly longer than we normally would like to respond. We will be in touch as soon as possible but it may take a couple of weeks." Nice to know people are stepping up.

But others had to close as per regulations or lose their licence?

Any pub is allowed to do takeaways and in a rural area they can be a lifeline. Several have started doing it locally.

This one locally had to stop and Close by Officials ?
