i meant indoors really ...I'll be honest , i struggle with paperwork and also understanding how to use some software types and computers and i have found found it actually upsetting in the past, especially with the money and time thats involved with it all.. but ....uploading to farm matters and then letting it do the recording and medicine book etc...is something that has helped me hugely and that's no overstatement.Whatever comes standard on an Agrident reader (APR600)
That’s the thread - I remember contributing to it at the time too.I've got the reader in the photo of the OP. I did a bit of a review of it on here:-
Simplest sheep EID tag reader and thermal printer
If that's not a ff link then search for the thread. I'm afraid I hijacked someone else's question. It can download a list of eid numbers but there is no way of deleting last time's search so I just scan the dog then start my sheep scanning then scan the dog again to end the scanning. The numbers can then be downloaded to a word document and from there to excel which can be persuaded to highlight duplicates and put the numbers in order. The details are in the thread above. The lcd screen is quite small but easier to read than a bouncing lamb. The memory is not infinite but quite big enough for me.
just to b sure better wipe them down with disinfectant as he might have dribbled 'bat juice' on them in lunch breakThe device liked records up to 7K tags... D/L with BT or a USB port to teh PC/Laptop.
But yes, not super cheap. I suspect it will be the same device as being sold here already by some companies, but with some branding on teh Reader
Sorry all I remember is, "This season I shall mostly be wearing nipple clamps."just to b sure better wipe them down with disinfectant as he might have dribbled 'bat juice' on them in lunch break

that will be the AgriLink softwareWhatever comes standard on an Agrident reader (APR600)
Well it arrived from downtown Shenzhen in 7 days or so...Hopefully, I will suss out the protocols and transfer systems...
It will depend on teh software people are using I guess.
shearwell stick reader doesnt do anything other than read and send and it will break , the end that screws on is a weak point if youre not very careful how you screw it on when changing the batteries.
as the batteries have to be taken out to charge as there's no port.
also in comparison those Agrident readers are modern lithium type batteries which last longer and are lighter .
one of those i mentioned above will ( in continuous read) , read as fast as you can get to those ears, and shove back in your pocket as quick as youre thinking where to put the stick reader one while you open gates etc.
Having a handpiece that will at least link births to ewes there and then is an must have i reckon, and if it can record weights with auto input from a weigh head than it will be at least three times more useful to most breeding flock keepers than just a basic chip reader.
medicine use on a task option is particularly good for a 'one off' ab use, as said above with the reader in your pocket as you jab, and after record , job done.
up load to computer indoors for record book etc , like the bloke said on the fast show get this modern stuff right and .... "its brilliant"
Are you using farm management software to store the EID data for the medicines or just a spreadsheet?shearwell stick reader doesnt do anything other than read and send and it will break , the end that screws on is a weak point if youre not very careful how you screw it on when changing the batteries.
