Cheap GPS

Can someone recommend a cheap portable GPS that I can place on tractor or quadbike to give me swath guidance when putting on fertiliser/seed on pasture?

Pacing out and placing markers in the ground beforehand is a pain.

Thanks

As Nearly points out with his link, there are loads of freebies available for Android phones and Tablets. To be honest, you will not go far wrong with a modern cheap Tablet, or a phone of your eyesight is better than mine!

I use a Garmin Glo hooked up to my Tablet to give better accuracy for top dressing and pasture spraying, but in most cases, with a good signal and a modern phone with GPS and Glonass in the phone, you will be rocking.... accurately!! :) However, neither will give the sub-30cm accuracy that would be nice.

I have tried several apps, and have found Field Navigator to suit my needs best.

Patchwork black boxes are brilliant for cheap GPS navigation

I would question the part about them being "cheap"... but this will I agree, all depend on what level of accuracy you require. ;)

From the OP's question, I would have though he can get something suitable for a couple of hundred quid, tops. If he already has an Android phone or tablet, then halve that! Certainly give a good taster of what the system will do and an idication of what something better would achieve too.

Use one of these to mount on the quad. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360-Bicy...hash=item4d920a1187:m:mWmJy2Vdo3vYp60EcdsNtgw

And something like this if using a tablet in the tractor. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universa...epid=0&hash=item287fe4bd3d:g:Uw8AAOSwojdbO3~4

Fieldbee? :) This is possibly the better app, and has various nice options with regard to record keeping, but the neater additions are in the "paid for" app, and this is not particularly cheap if you are really just experimenting. There is a 14 day ?? trail period which will help someone to assess the program I guess.

I like Field Navigator, and have used it for a couple of years... Been getting better all the time. Not actually paid for it yet, but probably dosh up the 13-14 quid this time!! ;)

I have also tried several of the other Android offerings, and found them wanting in various ways!
