Our milk buyer is requiring us to remove all chlorine or chlorate based chemicals by 31/12/20
I think others have had to do this previously.
What have people found that works as effectively?

Very, very hot water and lots of it apparently. Which probably means that the new chemicals are no better than washing up liquid.

Because the Irish industry has already done it and we have products going into infant baby formula. Interestingly chlorine or chloride is classified as a pesticide

Is ozone an option? Don’t know squat about it, but remember that I saw something about it.

Arla have asked if our current cleaning routines uses chlorine based chemicals, but they haven't threatened to take them away just yet.

Hot acid based wash? Peracetic acid or nothing for final rince.
Do they mean from final rinse or from entire wash cycle?

The alkaline is likely to be the chlorine based bit.

We haven't been able to use QACs or Chlorine based chemicals in final rinses for couple of years as been involved in baby powder products.

Just plenty of potable water for final rinse.

Most alkali products contain sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) for the cleaning. The chlorine is mainly to sanitise. You can get products free from chlorine.

I’ve never used chemicals at night,don’t even turn the air blast on.

I've been to one farm that did'nt even wash the parlour at night and had a bacto below 10. I did'nt beleive him at first, only washed the parlour in the morning.

I always wash down the same morning and night,lass who helps milk a bit asked if we pressure wash during the week,nope hasn’t been pressure washed for near 2 years,we just wash down properly ever day.
