With repeated FB and news articles of supermarkets and shoppers going crazy , packed out and mad traffic jams???

A BIG shout out to All Local Small Businesses, Farm Shops and Village Stores that supply everything, great produce ,products and prices , free car parking and NO QUEUES?

There was half mile queue to get to M&S yesterday, so I drove down the road to a small shop and walked straight in , got all I wanted

Bedlam in local town yesterday, struggle to even find a parking space, supermarkets rammed. I went in just before 8pm and had virtually the whole of M&S to myself. A lovely joint of beef from a local farmer, am all set!!

Because it's a staple food. When folk go in to buy a carton of milk, as they always do, they will be made to walk to the back of the store, past lots of enticing products that do give a good margin to the retailer.

Worse still at this time of the year, when it might be the one time that hubby goes along, pushing the trolley, and filling it with goodies while wifey's not looking... it cant just be me.

Postpone Christmas to the 27th. Go buy everything you need in boxing day when it's marked down.

I buy everything from my local town. Two butchers, greengrocers, bakers, hardware store, a couple of kids and adults independent clothes shops, toy shop, shoe shop decent off licence, deli.
I can do everything in two hours as long as I don’t bump into too many people. I love it.

Because it is perishable and drives repeat visits when another sale or two generally results.

Fresh produce largest item of food waste.

Walked straight in to the butchers at 0705 and bakers at 0720, supermarkets were all still shut. Shopping done by 0730, some for now, some for the freezer, no bother from she who knows best coz she was still asleep…….some bakery products didn’t actually make it home however. 🫢

Then drove past another butchers on way home and folk stood queuing round the block in the rain to pick up their steak pies.

One observation I’d make is that the clientele at that time is almost exclusively men over the age of 60 wearing bunnets.

I hope it's quietened down tomorrow afternoon when I start my Christmas shopping.
Unless I don't bother again for another year!

Queue 30 metres long to get in to our local bakers this morning. Myers in Horncastle(Famous for there Plum Loaf) About 10 or 15 people outside both local butchers. Brilliant to see.!!
