Claas 255 net not cutting

If it's the same as the 354, you have to make sure you open the door all the way when ejecting the bale to reset the knife.

Is the knife resetting and triggering ok?

Put a strip of carpet under the roll of net between it and the body. Use a relatively rough carpet to create as much friction as possible. Had the same issues before with a 255 when the roll polished the paint off of the body net would start pulling in as the bale began to form. The carpet will create extra friction which will slow down the roll and cut cleaner and you won't have any hairs hanging down. Worked for us anyway.

My 255 can act up due to the tension varying as the roll goes down. It was being a bu++++ today for a while until it had polished up the wrap tray, then it needed fiddling with the brake/tension bars to get the tension just right. I find the roll can self feed and run away if set too slack or else fail to start if too tight. It seems more of an art than a science. :)
Very occaisionally, (1 in 100 or so) the quadrant wont trip to fire the cutter and it seems to sit just at the end of its travel with the wrap running, but I haven't worked out why it is doing it yet.

Don't know if it's the same mechanism as the 46 rotochop but when we had problems when we had ours it usually was the blade for cutting the net was dull/ rusty 5mins to remove and shine up the flat side with a sander when it doesn't cut clean it leaves straggles of net hanging down into the chamber then when bale is forming it manages to pull in the net bloody annoying
If you look at bales if the net isn't clean cut across the bale then that was usually the problem
As it has been said make sure "hook" is resetting as well when the door is full open

Make sure the spring inside the tube that resets the knife is Ok.If it is broken or binding from rust it will do exactly what you describe.Try resetting the knife by hand.If it's easier than usual it's the spring

Exact same issue here with my 255. With a new roll of net I can't use all 5 tensioner rollers or it's to tight an tears the bet, have to use 2rollers to start with and after 100 bales or so use another 2 rollers to tighten it up. Probably needs a new knife as well. As if it's not tight enough it soon lets you know and nets a bale early [emoji85][emoji23]

We have the best results with Claas netting, Krone will work also. Had some Cortesione and another off brand and it will make you pull the hair out of your head. It seems some of the net is too smooth, it slips on the rollers and doesn't hold enough tension and the knife wont cut it.

+1 for using Claas net , I bought some novatex for my 355 as I didn't have time to go to claas dealer and I near enough had a nervous breakdown trying all the different options of tension bars etc as I had a plane to catch later that day , I did get it to net in the end with half the tension bars used and no brake on the roll at all , this managed to work for a bout 50 bales at which point no amount of different options would work , I feared something had gone wrong with the baler , however on ringing the dealer they just said try some Claas net before you fiddle with anything else , I bought some claas net before next cut and needless to say it works like clockwork all the way through the roll . Still have a nearly full roll of novatex in the workshop gathering dust !
