I have the above mower. When mowing a thick crop of grass it makes a perfect job, but if its a light crop it leaves strips between the discs. Very frustrating, seem to have tried everything to rectify, slowed down speed, changed blades etc. Any ideas......

Have you tried reducing pto revs and keeping forward speed up? There something in the manual about running it at 850 or roundabouts instead of 1000 in certain conditions

Where the discs converge, where they rotate towards each other, is the cast piece gouged or rough? This can cause striping occasionally, dress it smooth with a grinder.

The other thing that can be happening is that the front skirt is pushing the crop over rather than the crop pushing the skirt back.
In effect laying the crop over. Try lifting the skirt a bit.

As said previously the conditioner can create a bit of a breeze but the other thing is if the conditioner tine tips are a bit warn the crop gets thrown back onto the bed rather than being taken over the top of the rotor.
So check that too.

First step is the front skirt though.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
