I've narrowed down what combine should replace my Bonhill E514. It has come down to the Claas Dominator 76 and Dominator 86.
Thank you for all of your comments.

Would go for 86 it size isn't an issue, ours has a 15ft header much better than the 12ft header on the last combine.
Spares back up from Olivers is good in our area for an old combine, most bearings and belts in stock.
Other major parts next day, some parts are expensive but at least they are still available.

76 is only 4 walker I believe, 86 be a 5 Walker and better output.
Try and stretch to an 8 series, better grainpan bushes and easier servicing.
They are both derived from Senator or older 80 series Dominator ultimately, so Claas got it about right way back then, but each subsequent series has brought improvements and the 8 series were very little trouble at all.

Tell you what gets on my tits with 86
When you change gear the variable speed drops back to zero , whereas the old senator you set the forward speed and it stayed like that untill you changed it

it can be disconnected, if I remember right I small short rod connected from clutch pedal to a hydraulic dump valve, it drops the oil when clutch is down,
better step forward is a hydrostatic

as for the OP
a 106 is a big machine to move if narrow lanes and gateways, a 96 is basically a 86 with longer straw walkers, not much faster at all, and longer overall again for narrow lanes and gateways, and also for storage through winter,
an 86, or an 88 would do your job and more if needs be

I've also spoken to a farmer today on the phone and he has owned a Senator, Dominator 76 and Dominator 86. He didn't rate the Dominator 76 because it was more or less the same as the Senator he owned. He believed the 76 was very underpowered, whereas the 86 eats through the crop. His words were "The Dominator 86 is ten times better than the 76!".
