Claas header reel modification

Just wondering if anyone has ever done this. Only ever harvested with a claas combine (Dom 108 and lex550) but find on laid crop it snags on outsides and reel would benefit from extra tines/blades on outside of the reel like the image below. I can use the dividers to lift and divide the laid crop and works well until the crop is badly tossed and snags on divider, or when conditions aren’t ideal and a bit sticky. So my question is has anyone modified their claas header? Or is there a retrofit part I can fit like whats on the MF header?

Looks like a really good idea. Something I have been considering doing to both my NH headers. I like the way they are made of plastic, so will beak if they needed to rather than damage the reel or dividers.

They are a good idea and work well, they are in the parts manual for the header. Amazed that the dealer didn’t know what I was on about and never sold any. Wish I was on commission now

Never even looked in the parts manual as I didn’t think claas had such a thing hence this thread :X3: Amazed they’re not more popular, will be on to dealer first thing in the morning (y)

I got a price for some last week for the older style header and was quoted £320ish each side. Needless to say I didn't bother with them.

I had a struggle with winter barley, I managed to roughly fit a longer divider. I’d be interested to know how you get on with the dealer

Yeh I didn’t see any different bolts listed in the parts book, but the M10x45 hex bolt wasn’t long enough and was a bit untidy so I got M10x60 coach bolts and will just trim 5mm off with the grinder as they are a hair to long.

Looks like they’ll be a good help I may have to get a set myself.

Brilliant thanks, I will give them a ring in the morning. Think I will need them in the spring barley.

Yeh I have a lifter on every other finger, I put them on that way about 6 or more years ago to try and get the straw broken heads of barley up into the header. I couldn't be without them now and I feel it helps a lot as the crop flows well even when badly laid or tangled. The reel just combs through them and flows well in all conditions (y)

Just tried getting some for our header, which looks to be the same design as yours. Claas dealer didnt have a clue what they were and couldn’t find anything with the part number. I can’t seem to find them in our parts book or on the online parts catalogue to check the number. Any chance you could put a picture up of your parts book showing them so I can show the dealer?

Have you taken any land out of production from last autumn?
