Claas/Renault Ares?

Sorry to hijack but it's will be relevant to the OP as well.
What are they like to get parts for? I've seen some very keenly priced class tractors as well but I know someone who had a Renault and struggled to find parts for it. Might be better now they are class though.

Not had a problem getting parts for our Renault, not that we've needed many. Claas supplies them.

I think I will take Ares 816 or 826, I don't think there is much difference between the 600 and 800 series except the size.
Massive difference in capabilities in my opinion
Until you have driven both and has them side by side on the same job you won’t appreciate what a well balenced tractor the 800 series is.

I had a Renault Ares 836 new back in 2003 with front suspension, to this day I will still say it was the most comfortable conventional tractor I’ve ever driven. Replaced a Magnum 7230 and was more than capable of doing the same tasks. Was used with a 7 furrow semi mounted plough and then 6 furrow mounted with furrow press. As long as front axle is greased regularly it won’t give a lot of bother, worth checking any 800 series has the extra diesel tank fitted as the standard one isn’t big enough for a full day of hard work particularly on the 836

I will ask one more question about the Case IH Magnums, I know it is hard to find one under 30K but how is your experience with Magnums are they good tractors? Should I think about getting Magnum under 200hp or I should stay on the Ares 800 series?

We swapped a Magnum 7230 for the 836 and didn’t regret it. The Renault was a much more versatile tractor that we could use for everything. Magnum had no pick up hitch and only a 1000rpm PTO, the gear change from forward to reverse would give your right arm a good workout too. Couldn’t fault it on fuel usage for its size though. Compare that to the Renault with suspension, 3 speed PTO, pick up hitch, electronic shuttle and stronger rear linkage and it was a much nicer place to spend a long day. The Magnum’s rear linkage at that era is a week point, 6 furrow plough ripped the threads out of the drop arms twice.
We went from 6 tractors to 5 when the Magnum left as I didn’t need a second tractor to use for top dressing, rolling or hedge cutting, the Renault could do everything.
