Clarkson again

No. A 'wee bit of that civility in your posts' would mean that the posts were ignored, thus allowing the thread to be an unchallenged worship of Clarkson.
Ah, I see.
You use controversy to get noticed, in order to raise complaint about the controversy used by an individual as a tool in order to get noticed.

Now I've heard it all🤣

What a complete load of bloody nonsense this thread has become.

How can a thread that starts about a light hearted tv show spiral into such complete shite?

I dare say none of what’s typed here would be said in spoken word should the participants meet face to face.

A complete bloody farce.

What you, I and the collective are witnessing is classic SM behaviour
As soon as someone has the termity to go widdershins, there is a "pile on"

Personally, I could do without a girlfriend 13 years younger but I will admit that I do like his way with words and apart from the hair, Mr Clarkson & I are of similar build and shape

If it was merely a thread about a 'light hearted tv show' then it would be in Off Topic, alongside your ooohhhh thread. How did that start as a nicely worded compliment about a newsreader and turn into a soft porn thread ? Lodged any complaints on there ?

This thread stopped being about a tv show the minute posters said that the presenter was a good advert for UK ag, should be running the NFU etc etc. So you are saying that it is ok to express those views, but not to challenge them ?

No, @delilah , I’m not saying any of those things.

Do not “put words into my mouth “.

And yes, I have objected to what the Oooooohhhhhhh….. thread has become if you want to bother to look back.

You crack on. You’re only happy when you’re unhappy about something, but you won’t spoil my day.

Unless you come back with rudeness, personal insults and disrespect, I’m out.

Honestly, I can’t see the appeal ? 🤷‍♂️

I have to admit to enjoying Clarkson on Top Gear, & I do understand his style of presenting

but

I caught part of a Clarkson Farm show a while ago & as a farmer, it was the most embarrassing & cringeworthy thing I have ever watched

I have no idea who the target audience is meant to be, but I can only assume it is for light entertainment for people with no involvement or understanding of farming

yes, he probably does highlight some issues that the general public isn’t aware of & in that respect there may be a certain education value, but the whole package is so cringeworthy & continues the stereotype of farmers being angry, ignorant, privileged, middle aged men, that I think it negates any possible positive benefits
You’ve answered your own question.
it is for light entertainment for people with no involvement or understanding of farming

What about all the other "luvvies" cashing in on the latest reality farming, fletchers farm, kate humble, even the yorkshire farm is bowing to the what we want to see? The other one is i find quite "stupid" is the tennats for the national trust, is that the same national trust that owns the farm that the long time farmers weekly writer was farming and now, they, (the national trust are going to rewild)?
Having been forced to meet the Fletchers on their farm by my wife a couple of years ago I found them to be really likeable people who were genuinely enjoying what they were doing. They realised how innocent and clueless they were but were keen to learn. I saw Kelvin speaking on BBC Breakfast a few months ago and it was clear just how passionate he’d become in the intervening time. Having initially dismissed them I’m now a fan.

I would argue that he has been a good ambassador for UK ag. Most, if not all farmers I know have watched and enjoyed it.

The comment "He has done more for farming in one series than 20 years of Countryfile" has been made several times.

And several non farmers have said to me how well he explains everything and they how they never realised farming was so difficult.

Yes it's an entertaining programme with lots of hammed up drama like the telegraph pole incident, but he's a good narrator and his comedic approach to everything makes it a good watch.

Well I’m looking forward to it. He has the knack of using humour to get to the nub of an issue. He’s done more to raise the profile of farming in recent years than anyone.

Delilah hates him because, amongst other things, he has had the temerity to work with an evil corporation to make his show. I wonder if he feels the same about the legions of YouTubers doing the same, but arguably with far lesser impact?

Puritans like delilah never change anything, pragmatists do. The puritans usually descend into a pit of bitterness and rage at the rest of the world as they can’t understand why everyone else just can’t get on board with their superior ideas. It comes from a position of supreme arrogance.

And to settle point, Patrick Harvie is a little gay Marxist. I suspect he’d agree with me on that. He’s also as thick as pig$hit, not sure if he’d agree with that viewpoint.

Of-course it is, but if that's all you were doing then I for one wouldn't have taken the approach I have.

You have an issue with him personally, again that's up to you, and you're fully entitled to think anyone is an opinionated, egotistical so-and-so, as are we all.

But firstly, you bounce back and forward between the two, do one and then defend it by claiming it's the other.

Secondly, the fact that you haven't even watched the shows suggests that it's nothing more than personal dislike, so why not just fess up and admit that maybe it does do something to put agriculture in the public eye (which if you had bothered to watch them before going on the attack, you would know that they do), but you can't stand the bollicks just the same.

That would be difficult to argue with, and it would be honest.

Your posts just mirror an article I saw in The Guardian after the launch of series one, which was by someone who simply didn't like Clarkson but instead of admitting it they slagged off the show instead, plainly not realising at the time the degree to which farmers would empathise with it in the coming months.

Although in fairness, at least they'd actually watched it!

I can honestly say............I have NEVER enjoyed watching Clarksons farm series,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Maybe because I have not been cajoiled out of my cash to pay for watching tv,
Seen clips on youtube and it is what it is, a comedy tv show to make entertaining to the masses ,and make money for the makers and Jeremy..which I laughed at ,mainly because farmers know it is not real farming and some good stunts. (y).
Feel really sorry for the people who do not have the wherewithall to understand that.

It is real farming. It doesn't matter whether he makes a profit or not but he is farming nonetheless.
