Was on radio 4 earlier; comes into force today. Farmers can do as they please with redundant farm buildings without planning apparently.

It wont be their choice

Planning matters are devolved to Holyrood. Holyrood will do everything in their power to be seen to be different to Westminster, which means a lot of hot air will be generated but absolutely nothing will change. It's not as if the latest dead weight in Bute House is ever going to agree with a Tory policy. It will sink without trace, and dull joyless people on Community Councils can go back to 'refusing' applications for dormer windows and UPVC double glazing.

@glasshouse , you should have realised by now, Holyrood is where hope goes to die.

I think you will sadly end up seeing that is yet another big lie from this Tory Government!

Just look at the SFI farce announced today, the Tory's have been saying for weeks it will be more flexible/ many more options/ better payment rates etc etc and what happens? .... They announce SFI version 3 that is very tight option rules well above the same options for versions SFI 1 and 2 which makes all the options with a decent payment rate totally unworkable at farm level and the ones you can make work the payment rates are so sh!t they are not worth bothering with..

And they have been saying today that SFI 3 will encourage food production more than SFI 1 and 2 which is a big fat lie as nothing could be further from the truth, the latest SFI scheme is so tight on the rules the only way you can apply is to take land out of production for years, if you want to farm then under SFI 3 you either do not apply and farm or stop food production on most of your land to be able to apply!

You vastly overestimate the power wielded by Holyrood, in effect it's little more than daycare for the unemployable.
"Everyone has their price, but when it comes down to it theres not many souls worth buying"
- lets face it, If you gave a £60k to buy the influence of the SNP, you wouldn't find it in the accounts.
John Swinney, a 40 Watt bulb of a politician, isn't worth a fiver.

SFI section has threads/ links to SFI scheme 3 rules announced today.

Just to warn you the rules for SFI 3 make for very depressing reading unless you want to quit food production,
Im only interest in organic conversion as have another block to do. Was told they were due late summer so thankyou for update
