Local lad to here organised a charity 24hr ploughing marathon to raise money for Cancer Research.

He has a business restoring tractors and also owns a good few Ford 10series himself.

They ran 2 Ford 7810 with Ransome ploughs for 24hrs with drivers taking a 2hr shift behind the wheel.
At the start and finish they had 5 Ford 7810 all with Ransome ploughs, one of them with a push 2 furrow as well.

I had the drone up and got a few pics

Impressive sight even if youre not a Ford fan!:cool::cool:

How much did the push plough slow the tractor compared to the others?

To be quite honest, not much, its a bit more of a fiddle at the ends but he was keeping up with the others no bother.
They weren't at full pelt as it was just a few rounds to finish off the 24hrs.
The only time there was a difference was when they were ploughing a hard bit where muck had been loaded and the push/pull one was obviously working harder, both in wheel grip and she was puffing a bit of black smoke.
But 6 furrows on a 100hp? Everybody needs +200 nowadays to do that.

Thats what i thought would be the case, I am sure with modern front linkages that can have a bit more control of them and headland turn management they would be a viable option.
