There are a lot of M10 bolts between the gearbox and the 4x4 drop box that stretch. If you notice oil drop on the floor over night, you must change these bolts ( not tighten them up). It didn’t get done on this one.
It was on a 6 furrow DP 7 plough and because the bolts weren’t tight it started to bend on that flanged joint and twist the internal shafts. Then as the plough was lifted, it stalled the engine. Goodbye to a good old tractor unfortunately.

Would have cost ab £6 to repair 15 years ago.

Learn something new every day. I've always wanted a TW I hope if I get one that doesn't happen... But at least now I know what to look for.

Thought it was more to do with what you made it lift, I was warned the change to a 70 series when getting a 6m combi drill.
Well those DP7 E+1 ploughs weren't the heaviest, but are a very long plough. All this tractor ever did was plough. Some of the land she lives on is heavy Suffolk Clay and she would pull here guts out and never give up. Unfortunately, she literally did end up pulling her guts out!

If you stood in front of her on the headlands and she was on full chat heading towards you, she sounded like a hurricane!
Lumps of coal coming out of the exhaust too!

Your description of her really makes it all the sadder that it’s laid up now. Wouldn’t it be great to get it going again (y)

Had it out today to put on log splitter it’s a bit low on power steering oil what oil should I use
I use automatic transmission and power steering fluid which is red. Check what colour is in yours as a lot of people use engine oil in case it leaks into the engine, but it makes the steering heavier. Top up with the engine running and the steering on full left lock

Someone has a fair collection.....
Shame to see the T dub outside. I would have the 8100 from choice I think
There is something about those 81's I'll agree. Did they not have an Industrial engine ?
This one has had a new crank because some shells turned on it. I did some work on the farm it lives on about 25 years ago drilling with an MF510. It was a good tractor. The 8200 was power harrowing in front of me. The TW35 was ploughing ahead of us both. The 4000 would have been rolling if it has been dry enough.

When the wheat came up, I sprayed it with IPU using a Honda 350 TRX 4x4 quad pulling a Hardy 800 litre mounted sprayer, with an axle with LGP wheels and a drawbar fitting around a Honda engine with a 6-1 reduction gear to drive the pump.

As I was spraying it, I couldn't believe how many mushrooms were growing. The Farm owner told me his father paid his rent to the church on the proceeds of the mushrooms.

He sold IPU covered mushrooms?

I thought the 8100 had a lorry engine... which may be industrial? Clayson combines had Ford Industrial at the time.
