Cleaning under Multi-tier poultry systems

has anyone designed and built some sort of scraper to scrape out under the system, we don't have scrapers under our system and I was thinking of building a telescopic boom that sits on our merlo at 90 degrees to the headstock and booms out under the system with a 2-3ft blade on and pulls the muck in not the passageway, be interested to see what others are using, thanks

Centre passage is only 2.4m wide so the merlo fits to scrape out, last time I scraped out underneath with a long handle shovel, bloody hard work! Don't really want to hire a bobcat when I've got the merlo anyway

Make a v frame that fits on the front. Use it like a sweeper? Never done much with chickens so don't know layouts etc.

i just use 4 labourers. Makes them grateful when they get to powerwashing and morale improves.

i have heard that auto scrapers also reduce floor eggs, but they are a fair cost.

Your hydraulic ram should reduce the work, but need to be careful that you dont damage the system.

What system you on?
Scrape middle out, and then play around with lights so birds move the litter to where you want it! I have Dutchman and that's what we do during the flock

We've got big Dutchman step, what do you do with the lights?

We have 260 and 264. Putting the lights on underneath the system mean the birds will scratch the muck from there to darker areas.

I have the step system, we remove as much muck as we can with the telehandler towards the end of the flock. We will go in on 3 separate nights, you will find that the birds will scrap a lot of the manure out from under the system. By the 3rd time there isn't much left, making it a lot easier once the birds are out. And then it is just hard graft unfortunately.

There is a guy up here who has apparent designed an auger system that works on a bob cat to pull the litter out from under the system.
I don't like the idea of floor scrapers, I was in a shed the other day where the guy ran them every 3 days, he had virtually no litter left and what was there was pretty wet as a result (in the middle of summer). You need some litter to turn over and give the birds some to dust bathe in.

When your birds are out, get a scraper fitted ,its a must have,, no floor eggs under system,,, if you run for a couple of day's none stop 24 hrs before your birds go out . you won't have much cleaning to do.

We use a stihl multitool power sweeper and it is fantastic on dry litter. Drag it into a Line under the system and get a bobcat to take it out.

I blow the dry litter into the passageway with a road compressor, it’s the capped muck that we have to shovel out,
