we generally start last rotation in November but I'm tempted to start now and house earlier and turn out to more grass at lambing

Fields needed for lambing are cleared at the same time as the ram going in here.

Better to eat the grass off than see it burnt by the frosts and flattened by snow. Won't be housing or feeding sheep here unless the snow is too deep for them to dig through.

End of October or early November for grazing in early march (or even mid to late February if it's a kind winter) here. But it will vary depending on where you are in the world some places won't need that long and some will need longer.
Even local microclimates can make a difference I have some north facing fields that would be a few weeks behind the few south facing ones I have and my lowest field is about 550ft and is a month or or even 2 ahead of my highest at 1000ft. Shame I don't have more land lower down
