Clik not lasting!

Anyone else's Clik not lasting like it should? Clean Lambs done middle of May getting struck for the last couple weeks. Mainly small maggots but still big enough to break the skin! Clik's had no effect on some as they're full size. Not just one group of lambs either.
Very frustrating!

Was it hot when you applied it. Heard of a few folk with that problem 3 or 4 years ago. Theory was it was too hot and drying out on top of the wool before it could soak in. Not sure if that was proven right or not though.

Applied correctly, CLiK in all it's different strengths, works. Period. I've used it on ewes and lambs for 16 years (since it was launched) and I've never had a single animal affected within its expected period of cover. Where we farm we could be badly affected as well. Without it I couldn't keep sheep.

It was hot some days but not every day. They're Cliked in a wide race at about 4 weeks old, so they do jump about a bit and rub the Clik about. Maybe I should overdose a bit next year.

Been thinking about this before On small lambs that are going to be around for a long time they get a small dose but bigger lambs that are going away sooner get a larger dose. Doesn't seem to make sense that a lamb going off in 6 weeks needs twice as a lamb that's going to be around for a much longer time

Rightly or wrongly i dont know (probably get slammed for it) but any lambs that recive click here get it at the same dose rate as there dams!! My theory is a 20kg lamb is only a 20kg lamb for a week or so at the most, (unless he dies) so if you just treated a batch of lambs at 20kg does rate that dose is technically wrong? If you get what i mean as its been under applied a week or two later leaving it not as effective or pointless exercize! So they get the same rate as the ewe for a peice of mind, loss etc yea it maybe more costly but by the time you cost your time hassle and treatement of maggots its much cheaper

If you have a couple of thousand ewes, as the OP runs, that extra cost adds up to quite a bit.;)

The only time I've had an early breakdown, is when I had a thunderstorm on lambs an hour or so after doing them. It still lasted a good 12 weeks though. Mine are done in a race, much the same as described above.

Could it have been a duff batch @_sheptastic ? Have you contacted the manufacturer or supplier (or maybe she won't hear of it?:D).

I had the same trouble last season, just as you describe, small young lambs treated early June and fly in mid August. Rep came out this year and talked me through it.
She gave me a new gun and told me about the four stroke method. ( and a replacement bottle for last years failure) so far this year it has been ok but I probably will shear my lambs within the next for weeks just in case.

Using it for a good few years now and do the lambs in late May to save on product as the lambs are a lot smaller. Also means I can sell lambs from end of June on after the 40 day withdrawal. Never seen any maggots until middle of September yet.

Used it for years and never had a problem, take time to apply it correctly, it tells you exactly how to on the back of every bottle even I can understand it, and always make sure your gun is calibrated right. It's Not rocket science!
