Clik not lasting!

I clicked my lambs mid may was weaning last week and dagging any dirty ones. I got around 6 with a starting patch of maggots can't make up my mind if they were possibly living in the muck as no harm really to any of the lambs. As far as I understand click won't stop maggots hatching just die when they start biting blood??

We've had Clikzin not working, full body every 6-7 weeks since early April. We don't put on what it says on the can though as it seems way to much? A strip up the spine and then over and under the dock. Every lamb I've had to shear has had it on the front shoulders, as if the clikzin hasn't ran down the body etc?

That's why it's not lasting as long. The amount of ai is what gives the length of cover. The recommended dose of Clik places 4x the ai on the sheep than the rec dose of Clikzin, so lasts longer. Clik Extra is more ai again, for longer cover.

I was thinking of getting crop grade cypermethrin and watering it down to the rate that the animal products are used at as the crop volumes are so much cheaper.

Good luck with that, have a neighbour who was fined in a serious fashion for something similar . And it doesn't work as doesn't stick to the wool.

So after having ten or so lambs struck in the last week and retreating 1200 lambs with crovect I spoke with elanco turns out clik isn't what it's cracked up to be. Last time I'll be using it!!!
The product only stops the first stage maggots so on a dirty sheep the maggots hatch in the muck get passed first stage travel into the fleece no protection now available, they then break the skin allowing more fly strike bingo struck sheep.
Oh and after responding that I'm quite proactive at dagging anything dirty, stupid me didn't think to reapply the 40 day withdrawal product another wriggle out of the fact it don't work great.
Back to two applications of crovect cheaper and 100% cover regardless of a dirty arse or stage of maggots!!!

Had sympathy with your situation until your last sentence - I certainly wouldn't expect 100% cover from even 3 applications of crovect...
