Clock boost to economy

Its nearly a month since the clocks changed. Light before 7am still. Yet come 4pm it will be dark. Surely it makes sense to just keep British Summer Time through the year. Vast majority of people don't need it light that early but lighter afternoons would be a big benefit for most businesses.
Does your farm business actually need the light early in the morning now everyone has good electric lights on buildings and vehicles?

This comes up every year on twitter, "don't like this time of year don't like the dark nights gets so depressing. Government should leave clocks on summertime"
"you could always just get up an hour earlier?"
"no what a stupid idea I don't like mornings"
"it's the same time just the clock reading that's different"
There's just no pleasing some people

That's the thing I'm asking. What is it on farms nowadays that requires the early light rather than afternoon. For the majority an extra hour in the afternoon is far more use.

An hour of light at 4pm is infinitely more useful than at 6.30am for the vast majority of people. I would argue it would make the rush hour roads a little safer also.
Yes,rush hour roads....in lockdown.....when folks are working from home.:scratchhead:

Originally it was so young children walking to school would be safer however in reality how many really walk to school now unaccompanied?

To me leaving it the same would not make a lot of difference except it would be an hour darker in the morning trying to find the fat lambs in the field to take to market.😀

Safety is a bit of a moot point, in fact I'd say the roads are a good bit busier and more dangerous at 4pm when kids get dropped off than at 7.30 when the bus picks them up. Either way, here its dark at both times!!

Wait 'til Christmas when it's just about light at 9, stay on BST & it's near enough 10 before its light

Outside, inside, school, work....... just do things at the time that are appropriate to your task. Farmers select lambs at a time appropriate for them and the auction times follow suit. Same with schools, if the kids need to be daylight then they just go to school at a different time.

everyone wants it different so why not just allow the tasks to set the time?

what's so hard?
