Closing Footpaths across private land

Disagree.
Its fine for me , I have plenty of space and plenty to do, but many are going to go out of their minds with isolation.
The vast network of country lanes and rural footpaths seem an ideal place to maintain a bit of sanity.
A lot of rules need to be bit more relaxed , eg foot path width , while we get through this.
It's keeping people away from the honey traps that will help.
Providing walkers are reasonable we should be to.

As you might guess I do not live in a honey trap, but I do have miles of foot paths , only 1 field without one.

It was really just putting forward a silly question, and I agree let's be practical about this. But there must be plenty of instances though where long paths have been fenced off to the regulation width. Nudging up against others to pass by is not a great idea.

Thinking about putting on the local village Facebook page that they can walk around our field margins, most of them do anyway, but might be worth a few brownie points.

Plus I could add a few requests so they might take notice (clean up dog mess, dogs on lead near livestock etc etc)

I think that would be a very courteous gesture i don't doubt that some one will take a lend of your courtesy but the vast majority would be very appreciative.
3 plus weeks is a long time to stay holed up in a house with limited space there are footpaths in some areas and roads but anything that reduces peoples possible contact with others must be a benefit.

if you want to be so silly the same logic would also mean you can't buy your shopping from someone in a shop or pay a cashier. TBH the more people taking a sensible ramble over a footpath because they are reducing the risk to others, improving their mental health and getting some exercise the better in these current circumstances.

Farmers would do a huge amount of good to their cause if they publicly announced the opening of any field margin etc. Say people welcome every where as long as dogs are on short leads and never off. Please keep away from farm yards even if footpath passes through. For the duration of course.
the more people moving about will actually discourage those of a less honest disposition and encourage others to keep dogs under control

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
