Pre sowing glyphosate. Fine seedbed. Drill very shallow and roll. Watch it grow. Here's the relevant page from @Great In Grass 's excellent link;

Beware of broad leafed weed herbicides. Most will harm or kill clovers. Headland Triad (tribenuron) & Headland Spruce (2,4 DB) are clover safe but always read the label and consult a BASIS registered agronomist.

Make the best seedbed you possibly can. Use 6kg an acre sowing rate. Then roll it down to dust.

I would not spray it with spruce or triad unless I had to. It knocks it about so bad.

Seedbed must be warm and not minging wet.

You will want to have tidied up the field with another crop before sowing clover. Docks, thistles nettles etc are all very problematic in clover.

You're more of a grassland expert than me Ollie - what do you do for weed control in clover? If it's just clover and EFA on arable land you could have a lot of spring weeds going to seed before the EFA window closes.

To be fair the triad and spruce job will disrupt most things long enough for the clover to grow clear but it hurts it. Ill post some photos another day when my computer is unpacked.

Even red dead nettle and speedwells are checked if you catch em small.

Appreciate its clover for efa, but reading the 2018 rule book apart from applying ppp's you can do what you like with it like peas and beans. Does this mean you can graze it off with sheep in regard to weed control ??
