Well this is what it seems like to me...! ;)

Got a 5ha block of mega thin sand of which about 2.5ha has been in OWS/SF and a WB mix this year. Really struggled with the dry weather early on, but finally some of the Wild bird mix has come good. However, I was down there yesterday and looking at the area and notuced that all of the ground is covered with a lush green carpet of clover.

This land has been in arable since at least 1990 to my certain knowledge and well before that from a less certain recollection. So.... where the hell has the clover suddenly turned up from?

Some clover seed in the wild bird seed mix?. Is it sweet clover (very thick, has a yellow flower). It's brilliant for pollinators and looks pretty (grows quite tall) but is very difficult to get rid of!

No, I know sweet clover well as it's great... in the right place! ;)

The OWS/SF areas have not had any seed applied. This looks like a white clover as found in some of our old heavy land grass leys, growing "wild". However, this land is nowhere near the leys.
