I cant see many getting re elected what ever they do now ,no time esp those with an overturnable majority
12 months is a long time in politics, an about face on SFI, a terrible cold winter in Ukraine with Russia bombing power supplies & the US stepping back just might bring about negotiations next spring, a different view on the Israeli terrorism & support for innocent Palestinian civilians, a nice warm summer & an election next Sept/Oct & who knows, the fly in that ointment will be China.

Johnson and Truss squandered the biggest Tory majority in living memory. They're too near the edge of the cliff not to plummet into oblivion, IMHO, now.

I agree, but neither will carry the can. Sunak will get the blame for the damage those two did, when a lot of it would have been avoided if he’d been in place a couple of years earlier imo.

Too late for the Tories to get back nearer to the centrist ground that the majority of the electorate has always voted for. Labour, under Starmer, now appeal to that camp, while the Tory infighting will likely see them swinging further to the lunatic fringes on the right.
Will they take a decade to reinvent themselves, again, to become electable?

I'm not so sure Sunak is all that much better and he obviously doesn't consider his 350 remaining Tory MP's up to much - he's run that short of anybody that appears to be of any use that he's had to wheel Cameron out of the undergrowth.

It's a bit akin to a staunch direct driller getting his plough out of the nettles.

rarely do I comment on politics but I wasnt aware that defra was in for a change of minister , who was ? just glad its happened and its not gove though where is that as mrs 4 course puts it horrible man with a couple of expletives thrown in . I m presuming this new guy might have a few countrymen/ladies in his local constituency party who may be able to at least try and educate him about rural life and the worth to the country as a whole of its practitioners , problem is even if he turns out reasonably farmer friendly he aint going to have time to improve policies and sort out defra .
Sometime next year probably....

Election has to be before end of Jan 25 i think so will certainly be next year unless the people running Sunack find a way to stop needing a GE. ( and with the way he was put in place as PM i would not put that past them)

Barclay and Janet Hughes will have worked together when he was health Sec? so i think if that is the case you can see why Barclay is a good fit for Defra now and look what the pair of them turned the NHS into= a complete shambles!

Well, that is a wide old brief to address!!

Could be worse, they now need to backtrack on the way SFI is heading or else an awful lot of West Country MPs will be looking for another type of employment.
I think you will find they will be doubling down on SFI and pushing it even harder over the next few months as they truly believe that it will increase production of food ( that is how out of touch they are with the real world )

What did Janet Hughes have to do with the NHS ? All i can find is she used to be an Environment Science teacher and possibly wrote the book,"The Killing Fields" about Government policy to slaughter out Foot and Mouth in 2001
