I have to cut out a steel beam in a house, so no sparks, does anyone know of a firm that would do this or would it be possible with a recip and a lot of good blade? Beam is a 254x254x73 TIA

I think a dildo saw would do it but keeping it straight and smart might be a challenge. Will it be covered up afterwards?
Yes will covered up and should be able to access on all 4 sides, a friend said we’d do it with a recip, I just can’t go back on it once we’ve uncovered it 😬

as said mag drill some holes on the inside in the corners of the web and either side the centre line on the outside of the flange and the reciprocation saw will probably be ok with plenty of lubricant and coolant

Maybe a daft suggestion but can you protect the area around the beam to allow you to cut it hot? Time taken to cut cold = time taken to protect and cut hot and less aggravation/ sweat possibly?
It’s in the ceiling, so very difficult to fully protect

the Dewalt battery saw is fast becoming a tool box favourite with the lads at work for general repairs and maintenance. Easier and faster than getting the gas axe out and a lot safer to with no red hot slag being blown about by the wind.

It would do your job no problem, keep the speed nice and steady and use a trigger spray bottle with some coolant, or a can of maintenance spray. Patience will be the key to a good tidy job
