Let’s hope it’s still funny come the autumn, good news for all livestock producers though.
You think red meat would not follow suit ?
Cheap wheat =cheaper chicken which creates demand
destruction for dearer meats such as beef .
The beef price falls on lack of demand.
Farmers should be asking for better prices full stop
not playing one sector against another.

.
Tbf although its wrong russia is stealing grain at least somebody somewhere is getting supplied and will be one less customer later on.
Off topic I know, but I don't think I would be considering investing in next year's harvest if some twont was stealing this years out of my sheds with nothing I could do about it! I don't think they are anywhere close on the estimated tonnage left either.

Let's hope not. Don't feel like I'm coining it atm.
Felt better selling a bit of surplus wheat a month ago than the 20 odd fats I've sold since.

Take feed out and costs are still up massively for beef farmers but not much uplift in finished prices at all.

Every time I book cattle I say prices need to rise and get told "we're trying our best" but nothing yet and I dont think it's going to happen. I'll see it another year otherwise more arable or wild bird seed will look more attractive.

Yes. Next year will be a different story, especially with November 23 futures under 250
Think you will find allot of people had not covered this years crops with fert until mid June onwards, Prices were climbing and we all hoped it might fall . generally I would say most of this years crops are grown with fertilizer around £450 mark upwards. Just go back to fert page around 350 and read everyone's remarks. Apart from Chae who was getting cheap fert delivered!

View from room this am, of direct drilled crops emerging in middle distance is pretty typical of canola we saw driving 100 miles yesterday.
