An Economists talking on TV saying that global wheat stocks are so high that even with the Ukrainian situation there's every possibility for wheat prices to fall , I'm going to class him as an expert so must be talking rubbish, certainly hope so 🤞
Global maybe, but what use is that to the rest of us if China holds 75% of it, He's deliberately with holding a couple of important details.

I could. Id be thinking about the increased yield for next year, and not looking at hare coursers leaving greasy wheelings all over filling with water.
I was just thinking, you are aiming for about a tonne to the acre more than me. Saying that I have had 4 of my most consistent yield years ever, no great records but hitting above my target year on year. Hopefully this year will be the same.

Very late germinating wild oats have spoilt the look of two fields of spring barley here.

This year is not going to be vintage. I can see yields being uninspiring irrespective of the aim. I know we dont need much rain, but weve had nothing.

1st Feb to end of March 24mm
1st April to today 44mm

And it was dry enough over winter to have the spring barley in a month early. Add to that the heat etc.

Driest Jan - June since 1996 (big wheat yields that year) Combine will reveal all in six weeks. Bit like looking at the presents under the xmas tree and wondering what is in them? Do you shake yours?!

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
