Seriously do people genuinely believe combinable crop farmers make so much dosh they can afford to just give their produce away ?

I don't think the ridicule is for the fact that they are charging, it's because they're charging but making out on social media that they're some kind of charitable hero for selling their straw!

Agree they should be honest - not on to pretend you are charitable if your profiting

What's this profitting stuff , I'm expecting middling yields of both grain and straw , isn't that the reason prices have risen .

The wheat portion of my costs has fluctuated between 16-25% of turnover over the last 18 months.

I'll offer you 19% and you can gamble on the wheat price falling/egg price rising!

Exactly, you don't really have to be a mixed farmer, you just need to develop working relationships with other farming enterprises IMO.

Offered £180 for wheat today of the combine.done a clearing up load of barley for £165 and I think I heard rape at £320.

That's what I hoping for hopefully giving somewhere about £380 with bonuses, my rep says it will be short and advises holding.

Long-standing muck-for-straw arrangements have collapsed about here, as a 'cash is king' ethos has prevailed. So much for long-term, look after your soils, thinking.
