I wonder if instead of red tractor I move my assurance to a Eastern European assurance company for next year mills will still take my wheat as assured ? Can’t see how they can refuse if they are using imports assured in the same way as they use uk assured wheat

Seriously guys this might be a good idea and way to crack the uk protection scheme monopoly that none of us dare to leave !
As you got a bit of clout through tff there is an NFU guy on here as we all know , no pun intended , and if you were to get the ball rolling on here I for one would through my support in any required , or not required!! , form as I bet a vast majority of members on here would too.

Unfortunately I’m too busy trying to make a living to go starting revolutions right now

I might just research off shore assurance schemes over the winter though and see if they are interested in having uk members

It’s seems mills and merchants don’t care where the assurance comes from or ask any questions to just what that standard might be - as long as it is “assured” that’s ok it seems

@Guy Smith , As a nfu member can you answer me that if this in non assured grain are the cattle fed it not now assured? A neighbour I supply with rolled barley had a "non compliance" and suspension un till I provided a grain assurance passport will a sticker on it!

My neighbours had similar with their own grown feed.
Not sure how it ended tbh.

You would be bettter asking red tractor directly - the NFU like to distance themselves (despite inventing / ownership etc !)

What price for malting barley off the combine now? Or do you have to have a contract?

I have a a load and can't decide whether to keep 10 tonnes back for home mix for the sheep or have it tested and send the lot.

Is home mixing worth the clat or would be better selling the barley and buying nuts?
