I think 2018 is 1975 and 19 COULD BE the "76 " , totally no proof to back it up though
Bloody hope not!

2018 is like 1975
And ln 1976 nearly all spring crops failed and quite a lot of people lost a lot of money as they had sold forward and ended up with out any crop to supply.Spot on, db9go.
Our yields were 40% higher in 1976 than in 1975.
All due to the superb autumn in 1975 , the like of which we've never had again, until 2018.
Quite so, db9go.And ln 1976 nearly all spring crops failed and quite a lot of people lost a lot of money as they had sold forward and ended up with out any crop to supply.

Sold 50% barley forward at £60/ton (£480 today) to lock in a profit, and then the balance on July 2nd, after harvest, at £70/ton (£560 today).
Been going downhill rather fast ever since.
You should have just retired there and then, rather than being greedy and continuing farming for even greater riches!
Surely with conditions as they are, some will be planting Spring Crops early, I am certainly going to be banging some SW in the ground if still dry in the next 2 weeks.
don't think that would survive the winter.
Contractor drilled a load of SB early Jan this year and by all accounts it did very well indeed, where as the rest of us who eventually got planted up late Spring had a pants cropThe posts above made me think similar. I've only got spring barley to go in though and don't think that would survive the winter.
I thought I was a more senior member on here and I was born in 1962 .Put in 50 acres SB early November 1962.
Looked extremely promising until January.
