Combinables Price Tracker

the other problem for maize is that in the wet states the crops in the ground will be going backwards
fertiliser washed away and poor weed control

as stated good job the usa had a big reserve in stock

hopefully the rest of the world will produce enough to go round and stop prices going too high because very high prices would destroy some of the demand and governments would legislate against ethanol
the production in good years need a use so we maintain acres to ensure we have enough in poor yielding years
only india and china a reserve of grain to feed their population other countries rely on the free market to maintain supply

the weather is the biggest driver of grain prices since the eu and usa stopped keeping a strategic reserve

Does anyone else find that a certain
Statutory levy board is always way behind
the news ?
They can only deal with facts
USDA came out with the facts last night so having a report from Ahdb by late morning to day
They cannot spread rumours as if they are wrong they would lose their jobs
We can go on internet and read what individual farmers in the USA are saying their counties crop condition thousands of counties in the USA

i can never figure the job out, for us in the UK when grain got to real money the end of 2012 no one starved did they? yet its ok to only pay the grower £100/t less some 5 years later for the same ton of wheat
no one starved or was short in either case. But all inputs juts keep increasing nipping away at the od times our job just returns a small profit.
wouldnt it just be nice for every single grower to say na ya not getting it until you pay us its true worth. of course were powerless to control any of it

On the back of weaker £ and much higher urea price, yes I agree. The weaker £ gives with one hand and takes with another.....

Rollercoaster wheat market last few days today trading within a £5-6 band in the same day up and down.

Calling the sweet spot is a challenge.

Yep and their headline story on the markets page is usually saying the exact opposite of what the market is doing just below it.

I see US wheat down 8 cents a bushel on opening today so headline tomorrow will be wheat prices rising;)
the trouble with print media is that it is immediately out of date.

If you went to print at 11am this morning the title could have said Matif up 5E, at print at 1500hrs would have said Matif down 1E.

That is the problem with texting prices out, they could be £5 wrong either way in a few minutes on a market like this.

How do you see OC demand? The way things are looking at the moment I may as well leave my balance in the store till next harvest.

New and old have nearly converged now (new rising to meet old, baring a weather market in the UK delaying harvest I think old crop is done, yes it might go up following New crop but the £20 difference is gone for good now.

Old crop has moved up £2 whilst new crop has gone up £15 roughly.....
