That is the double wammy of if they don't shut down but use only imported grains, as something like 70% of what goes in comes back out as DDG's so directly replaces some feed compound.

C B

I was thinking more of the ddg output from potentially GM imported maize Vs the non-gm from UK wheat.

Didn't realise it was as high at seventy percent.

+ Wheat syrup, but both it and the dark grains are predominately protein sources, so they don't directly displace cereals in rations.

Wheat syrup from Ensus (& I assume Vivergo) is a PITA as despite being thick, it has low DM compared to barley (Pot Ale)/maize syrup from the distilleries/North British. Plus it gets thicker (nearly solid in summer) due to the gluten content. Whilst appearing cheap on a fresh tonnes basis, it's less so when accounting for the DM/hassle.

Surely British Livestock farmers wont buy foreign grain instead of supporting UK arable farmers grain and those who lovingly provide them with livestock bedding?

Yeah they will just let their livestock starve instead.....

The UK does not have enough feed wheat and is already at import parity, imports have to happen...
