Combine guidence

Just considering putting guidence on our C670 ,,,,,,, it is not the i version
We are considering changing combine next year and will be looking to come from a 2008 machine to hopefully a 2013 /14 machine ,,,,,, I'm presuming the kit I take out of present combine will be transferable to a newer albeit different marque machine ,
Total novice at GPS guidence , so lots of questions as I get my head around it

Hi if you send me your email i can get a quote to you for a system you can move between machines...

Are you after some basic guidance or auto-steer?

Is anyone really using guidance on a combine? I thought basic guidance would need more attention than just driving following the already harvested area. Full auto-steer should be useful, leaving the operator some time to look after the machine instead of concentrating on steering.

The combine combined with a tractor for drilling asks for full auto-streer on RTK if you ask me.

Better to study different options well before purchasing something cheap that cannot be upgraded to what is needed eventually.

This is not basic guidance, we are looking at turning non auto steer ready machines into full auto steering with the use of an atu steering wheel.

Sorry about the confusion, my response/question was for the original poster who talked about "guidance" which to me does not necessarily mean auto steer.

Thanks for the tag Farmer Wilson ,
Only just catching up!
Please either pm me or email me
[email protected] and I'll send you some prices. We have engineers based all over the country so we are never far away! We will have the right Topcon solution to share semlessly between both machines,
Kind regards

I like the JD system, having 3 sets shared amongst 5 JDs including the combine. If you're staying with JD next time then it would be the best system to use as most combines are Autotrac ready now.

The more expensive the operation, the quicker the payback from investing in an autosteer system. Combining is probably the most expensive pass of the growing season.

Very unlikely to stay JD next time ,,,,,
But looking hard at the green star system ,,,,, the Cat we hire from Houlgrave comes with SF1 which my old man who's not far off his 80 th birthday has almost got his head around SF 1 , the only bit I think that JD are behind in is the steering wheel , I'm told that the apendage that sticks out is not to much bother on the combine but more of an issue on a Puma , of to sit on one next week to see what it's like

What's the betting that my old man has forgotten everything he learnt last year and will take 6 weeks to get back up to speed again ,,,,,, just about the time the tractor is off hired

I agree with you it's not the neatest or most compact compared to the other systems. I asked to have mine fitted on an angle so it wasn't between my legs.

Wouldn't wanna be without it and highly recommend greenstar.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
