Compressor problems

I’ve got a 3hp sip compressor that when I try to start it after a few days, it attempts to start then just buzzes. If you flick the on/off switch a few times it will eventually start and be all right for the rest of the day. Is it shagged or fixable? TIA.

Is it plugged into a 13 amp socket? If so it is on its limit starting a 3hp motor and may damage the motor due to the symptoms you describe.
Put an Industrial type 16 amp socket and heavy duty wiring back to the consumer unit to prevent voltage drop which will be the cause of your problem.

Have a look at the starter capacitor , it may be looking a bit melted or burnt.

First answer would have been same as @milkloss empty receiver or not there could still be pressure between the top of the piston and the unloader valve.
Single phase or three phase, single phase could be a capacitor problem or a sticking centrifugal switch in the motor.

If it's three phase you could have a dodgy contact in the starter and then it's trying to start on two phases which would account for the buzzing as well.

We have a 3hp twin piston compressor too. It's just the same in cold weather. If it's struggling to start just release some pressure out first so it's easier on the motor to get going. Once they have warmed up they are fine. They have a saftety cut out switch which will trip after a few seconds of stalling so nothing to worry about

I have a compressor that is not building up enough presure. It normaly sits at 150psi and cuts out. Its running all the time and only getting up to about 70psi. (I switch it off at socket when not in use)

My guess would be the gasket between the valve plate and the cylinder head .
