Concrete panel paint....

Any recommendations for the type and source of a paint suitable for concrete panels. Most seem to want the panel acid etched, whilst others claim to paint straight on. It’s leaving me baffled
Chlorinated rubber paint reads like it’ll do the job, but at a fraction of the price of a 2 part epoxy resin, is it a case of ‘you get what you pay for’ and have it all to re do in a few years??
It’s for a dairy and robot milker clean room 300 sq m of walls

Acid etching is pretty easy to do and probably worth it as the paint will stick longer. We got a company called Duraflake to do our parlour and dairy and I think it really finishes off the job.

Chlorinated rubber works well and is wipe clean but is an arse to use, you have to do 2-3 coats at least of thinned down before doing it unthinned, so it works out fairly dear. Concrete sucks it in though - the first coat will completely disappear, its quite soul destroying. The upside is the fumes off the paint are quite strong so you don't mind so much :dead:

I would consider parlour boarding, but I imagine it would work out significantly more expensive (but would look neater and probably last longer)

Argh, wish I’d read this before I’d ordered some rubber paint..
never mind, sounds like the fumes will take my mind off the frustration of using the stuff

Its not too bad, you can sort of slap it on the wall. Its time consuming and a bit tedious on the 4th coat but it does leave a nice finish.

You have to buy the special thinners for it. Mole Valley sell them. They're not that expensive though.

Good luck (y)

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
