Have you ever used a cage dipper? It really is an eye opener compared to persuading them to jump into a bath of water.

If I was putting a dip in, it would be a cage dipper built into the yard (or on the back of a trailer if I was scattered about.
It makes a miserable job a lot easier.
No, I keep thinking I’ll give a cage one a go, but my local mobile dipper runs a portequip and he makes a grand job of them so I’m loathed to swap 🤦🏻‍♂️😂

Is it possible to find out where a herd numbers from online?

Going through last of lambs and lot from one place $h!te. Would like to identify where they come from to avoid buying from them again.
Not sure you can look up any herd no you want but I think if you have the stock on your holding you should be able to see on scot eid

Yep, we can trace our lambs from here through finishers and all the way to the halal slaughterhouses in north of England, can click on cph and it'll come up with location on google maps, quite interesting really.

If you get one in once, you’ll be persuading your local man that he needs to buy one.👍 Unless you enjoy mauling sheep up a race of course.
It really is an eye opener when you’ve had one in.

I sure as hell wouldn’t buy a mobile plunge dip for £15,500, grant or not, when that would go a fair way to having a cage dipper built onto a trailer/lorry.

Is that just a standard single axle dipper or does the twin axle rig have a bigger tank? My man last year put 5 lambs or 3 ewes in at a time
I have 3 dippers I wouldn’t be without them. I have looked at a portequip and although I’m tempted I can’t see how I would get the throughput with the ramp and more importantly the small draining pen. I wouldn’t want to put you off getting one I suppose it depends if you can get them to a purpose built dipper easier than having a mobile dipper. You can dip a hell of a lot of sheep yourself cheaper than getting a contractor.
I was told it costs to apply for the license now I did read a figure looked dear. I just pay the 3 x whatever it is and look happy. It was dearer for a while nearly £3000 per year and it’s dropped back a bit. There’s just been letters sent out about re-evaluating the annual fee. You could just get your spent dip taken away if you can find someone to take it otherwise

Can you not designate an area for it to be spread on anymore ??
