Is that a Simmy cross cow ?
For some reason I thought you were going all Angus ?
I am.

But it will take 5+ years to complete the transition. Despite my suggestion, the older cows are not being sold out. They stay until they get culled.

I sell anything empty, anything which doesn't rear it's own calf, anything which needs calving assistance or lameness treatment and anything which turns 10.

I think that's what they are doing
I'm selling sim X cows with a calf at foot, and buying Angus bulling heifers.

Generally swap a life for a life. So a cow calf pair for 2x heifers. Assuming 50% breed up on heifers, I'm swapping a bad cow for an in calf heifer, and a weaner calf for a killing heifer 12 months older.

I think that's a pretty good trade.

I had two blue bulls in at Gisburn yesterday. I thought they were just a straight trade really, one at £405 and this one at £470. Just under 6 weeks.

No offence intended but can't see you being there in 5 years!🤣

The US beef agency will have you head hunted as chief advisor by then.
