U.K Self replacing Sheep @unlacedgecko .................................you'll need to add this to your book of sheep miracles to confuse & blow the minds of the AmericansView attachment 1177161This is an old pet ewe who definitely didn’t see a tup in November I haven’t a clue who the father is or even how she’s managed to get in lamb!
You need to give "Skippy" or whatever she's called (in my experience in these matters, it'll have a name by now) a distinctive mark with a spray can. You should simultaneously replicate this mark on a lamb that's sure to be a keeper.Ffs kids have noticed that the lamb is a girl and now they want to keep it. Just what we want a runt from a single that didn't have enough milk for it
Really didn't think this through
I've gotten quite good at that by now I don't think there is a name yet though maybe they know me by nowYou need to give "Skippy" or whatever she's called (in my experience in these matters, it'll have a name by now) a distinctive mark with a spray can. You should simultaneously replicate this mark on a lamb that's sure to be a keeper.
There'll come a time when/ if Skippy makes it to weaning and gets mixed in with your replacements.
Skippy can then disappear but you'll still be able to point "her" out to the kids
The 3 I acquired had to be gimmers so we know what’ll end up happening next year don’t weThe rule here is they're only allowed a pet lamb if its a gimmer, they've never forgiven me for selling their lockdown pet "Ruben" .
One died on them so they had a burial service.View attachment 1177252
Before you know it you will be lambing 1500 ewes to provide yourself with “cheap” store lambs. The 3 I acquired had to be gimmers so we know what’ll end up happening next year don’t we
There’s going to be some small store lambs about this yearBefore you know it you will be lambing 1500 ewes to provide yourself with “cheap” store lambs.
That’s bloody terribleAustralian farmer digs pit 'big enough' for more than 3,000 sheep - Agriland.ie
Wayne Smith, a sheep farmer has said that he has had to ask one of his neighbours to dig a pit large enough to fit over 3,000 sheep, aswww.agriland.ie
Miserable as all hell but promising signs for our lamb price going forward
I can guarantee with absolute certainty that won’t be happeningBefore you know it you will be lambing 1500 ewes to provide yourself with “cheap” store lambs.
Is it all the same issue or a multitude of shite?f**k I’m having a poor lambing my own outside and post lambing at work, inside was great really and never lost a ewe but there make Ng up for it now. It’s not being help at all by everyone telling me about the problems.
Just multiple problems, horrible when you dread going round them. I wish they would die more steady rather then having a very bad fortnight. Is it all the same issue or a multitude of shite?
You're not alone. My lambing has just been one big run of shite from start to finish. Had far too many dead ewes.f**k I’m having a poor lambing my own outside and post lambing at work, inside was great really and never lost a ewe but there making up for it now. It’s not being help at all by everyone telling me about the problems.
